This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through joint sponsorship of Medical Media Communications (MMC) and the New York Center for AIDS Research (NYCAR). MMC is accredited by the ACCME to sponsor continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. MMC designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.25 Category 1 credits towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.

All non-physicians will receive an attendance certificate suitable for presentation to their licensing boards. For more information on non-physician accreditation statements, contact the Medical Media Communications Education Department at 847-292-5850.

Faculty Disclosure
Medical Media Communications is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

As an accredited sponsor of continuing medical education programs, Medical Media Communications must ensure that its educational activities, whether individually or jointly sponsored, are balanced, independent, objective, scientifically rigorous, and free of commercial bias. Therefore, we require that all faculty members comply with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education (copy attached). Furthermore, each faculty member is required to disclose to activity participants (i.e., the audience) any significant financial interest or relationship he or she has with [1] the commercial supporters of the educational activity and [2] the manufacturer(s) of any commercial product(s) and/or provider(s) of commercial services that are discussed during the educational presentation(s).

“Significant financial interest” or “other relationship” can include grants or research support, employee, consultant, officer, trustee, stock or bondholder, member of scientific or advisory board, member of speaker’s bureau, etc.

The intent of disclosure is not to prevent a faculty member who has a significant financial interest in or other relationship with a commercial organization from making a presentation; rather, it is to provide audience members with information so they can make their own judgments about the presentations. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the audience to determine whether the financial interests or relationships of the faculty members have influenced the content of the presentations.

Medical Media Communications will release disclosure information to the audience before the presentations are given, in print form or otherwise.

Failure to disclose significant financial interests or other relationships with commercial organizations may preclude inclusion in continuing medical education activities sponsored by Medical Media Communications.
